Why do I need an MOT test?
It is a legal requirement to have a valid MOT certificate to drive your vehicle on public roads in the UK. Driving without a valid MOT can result in a fine of up to £1,000. It also ensures your vehicle is safe for you, your passengers, and other road users.
When is my MOT due?
You can find your MOT expiry date on your current MOT certificate. You can also check your vehicle’s MOT history and current status online using the DVSA’s free tool, which requires your vehicle’s registration number.
How early can I get my MOT done?
You can have your MOT test carried out up to 30 days before its expiry date without losing any time on your current certificate. For example, if your MOT expires on 15th July, you can have it tested from 15th June, and your new MOT will run until 15th July the following year.
How long does an MOT test take?
A typical MOT test usually takes between 45 and 60 minutes. However, if your vehicle requires any repairs to pass, the overall time will be longer.
